Our Squads are currently structured into four levels:

 

    Junior Squad B (7y-10y)

 

    Junior Squad A (9y-12y)

 

    Senior Squad (11y-19y)

 

    Fitness and Fun (10y-19y)

 

The Competition Squads are by invitation only. The criteria to join are based on commitment to practice, the willingness to take part in competitions, set technical criterias and stroke stipulation times. Currently we have three squads which are divided based on combination of age and development.

 

The Fitness and Fun Group offers the opportunity to kids and teenagers to swim and have fun but are not particularly interested in competitions. The focus here is on fun whilst improving technique and fitness level. Swimmers can chose any amount of sessions.

 

The aim of the Competition Squads cover all aspects of a developing swimmer's needs. Over their time in these squads, they will be taught:

  • Advanced stroke technique and drills development
  • Starting, turning and finishing techniques
  • How to train effectively (warming up and swimming down, endurance, clock reading and lane discipline)
  • Basic land training and flexibility routines
  • Gala procedures and rules
  • Basic hydration and nutritional advice
  • General mentorship and advice for competitive swimming

 

Entry criteria

  • Swimmers will normally be 7 - 18 yrs of age
  • Must be fully competent in three strokes and have good knowledge of all four strokes, diving and turning
  • Be able to swim 800m continuously (1500m for Senior Squad)
  • Must initially commit to a minimum of two sessions per week rising to five sessions. (Min three sessions for Senior Squad)

 

Competitions

 

At the younger ages swimmers will compete in local, friendly mini-galas and developmental galas. As they become older they will be eligible to compete in larger international galas.
